I think the most disappointing sports development of 2009 has been the chalkiness (new word i made up) of the NCAA tournament. In years past, there have been the George Masons, Davidsons, and most satisfyingly, the Gonzaga's of the world. This year, the elite 8 is marked by the "shock" of 2 #3 seeds making it. Kind of disappointing for those of us who are willing to sacrifice the accuracy of their bracket for pure chaos.
I've been more satisfied with the "chaos" of the NCAA baseball tournament recently. In previous years, regional #3 seed OSU (regional #3 in baseball ~ regional #9 through #12 in basketball) and regional #4 seed Fresno State have stormed the tournament and won it all. Maybe I'm a little biased, considering my surprising interest in the CBI this year.
Anyways, go Beavers.
